Alisha Crowder.
Playing the violin and marketing is what I do, but teaching musicians and bands and fans how to improve their digital footprint is who I am.
My Story
About Me.
This is Alisha Crowder. I grew up in a rather small community. I lived pretty far away from any town or city out in a township that spanned a few square miles. I learned that I rather enjoyed playing music, but I also liked to do things with my hands such as go fishing, or even build something from nothing. I did eventually get older and had forgotten a lot of that joy I had back then.
It would be several years later that I found a new joy, but due to my impatience, I stopped going to college for what I felt was my calling and joined the military. I went into the Navy where I was trained as a nuclear electrician's mate and served 6 years in that duty until my end of active obligated service (EAOS). I got out and started working as an industrial electrician where I live at today.
Electrical work, by itself was not as fulfilling to me as it was for others in the same field. I quickly grew bored with it and the job was not as enjoyable as it was when it was brand new and fresh. I had lost the joy and excitement of working in that field. I couldn't complain since it was paying the bills and keeping food on the table.
While working there, I rediscovered my joy for playing music and later pursued it in the form of playing the violin. That is me in the picture playing it at the church I currently attend. However, I thought that maybe this was my true calling. The issue that I found out is, my mood changes like the wind in a hurricane. I can be interested in it for a spell and then not so much. I am still, to this day, taking lessons to master this instrument for my own personal enjoyment, but it is not the end all be all for me. So what do I do?
I then discovered that I still really enjoy working with my hands. I still like making things that are new and usable. I enjoy trying new things and seeing if I can get things to work the way I want them to work. So, now I am just a hobbyist. I come up with different problems and see if I can come up with something that works. I am not trying to solve world energy problems or end world strife, just things to satisfy a curiosity. Proving to myself if I can do it or not. I even post the hobbies I have done and a kind of instructions on how to do it for those who want to use it for one of their own projects or to use it to improve something at home.
Music is a kind of hobby too, so don't be surprised if music projects appear on my list of projects that I've done. I do hope everyone who visits my hobby corner enjoys the projects I have posted. I am always open to new ideas and hope to see those who want to talk more about projects in the Facebook group I am hosting where we talk about just that.
Please take care and God Bless!!
My Story
About Me.
This is Alisha Crowder. When I was young and in elementary school, I got to hear the violin for the first time. I really liked how it sounded and the way it almost sang to me. However, we were poor and could not afford to buy one, so I never brought it up. Instead, I tried singing some for the church I was raised in. At that time, I never realized how much music meant to me.
As I got older, my time started to be more focused on doing my job and less on music. My job was eating up more and more time and I was trying to go to college as well. Still no more time was free, in fact it was less having to split it up. That was when I figured on making more money would be one of the keys to being free. But how? The job I was doing was a janitor for a department store and a job outlook on my college career told me that if I didn't have 5 years experience I could forget the job afterwards. That wouldn't do since I was amassing debt in the form of student loans. So I had an offer from a recruiter to join the Navy and that is what I did.
While I was in the service, I did my job, but music was not a part of it. At least not a lot of it. While in boot camp I would sing while I worked for the other recruits since we didn't have a radio to help pass the time. When I was finally through training and in the fleet, music was finally back in my life, but no real time to actually enjoy it. Again, I could not focus on the music I really loved. I got out of the Navy once my contract was up and got a job where I am now.
I have worked here for a few years now and finally got enough money to buy the violin I loved as a child. I also managed to find a teacher to help me learn to play it, but the job did not grant much free time to really play or focus on it. That is when I realized I needed to do something to get my time back. That was when I decided to start marketing. Something that I can do in a short time, make money and spend the rest with my music. Then during the time learning the business it hit me. Time or lack there of was always an issue. Freeing up time was the key and marketing was just a tool I used to get my time back. Now I want to help free other musicians up so they too can have their time back to work on their music.
